Welcome to Second Grade!

May 18th, Fri. at 11:30

Our 2nd graders will go to the park at the intersection on the back street into the school (one long block to the right of the school itself). We will need parents supervising as we play on pavement! EEK!

You can walk and help supervise as we meet at the bus exit (at the right side of the building)  canopy area or be at the park ready for a few hours of fun! The children have paid for their pizza and we have ordered enough for them. Bring a lunch and join us as they have a final day as a 2nd grade group before going to 3rd grade. Thanks for all your help all year. Yous have been great to work with and I appreciate each of you and your wonderful children!

Take good care of them for me.

AR TESTING - Last days for testing approaching soon!

Your children depend a lot on AR motivation and help from you also. These comprehension tests help your child prepare for reading information on their own and enjoying reading library books. To test they must pick AR books in Library.  Children are now testing on above 2nd grade  level reading books from Library and doing well. Only a few more days to test and then computers will be busy testing Maps Math and Reading.

Use Study Island website this summer as your child continues to practice skills learned in 2nd grade.

CHILDREN SHOULD KNOW ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION FACTS WITHOUT COUNTING UP AND BACK! Timed tests will follow soon for a grade. Review everyday, please. some students are not taking home unfinished work and are not writing assignments. I am putting planner notes on the board daily! Help your child be accountable by checking to see if they are writing assignments each day.  New discipline incentive coming soon.
